Description
Coordinates and performs a variety of clerical permit processing functions on behalf of Development Services; provides customer service to the public and city staff; processes and issues permits and licenses; coordinates inspections; assists with open records requests, maintains compliance with state retention requirements, processes payments and performs other related duties.
Examples of Duties
Provides customer service and assistance to contractors, the general public and city staff. Processes payments for permits, site plans, plats, CAAB cases, variances, and other Development Services related fees. Responds to routine inquiries and complaints regarding the Development process, building codes, and/or other building related matters. Receives and processes permit applications and/or plan submittals; monitors documentation for accuracy and completeness. Performs data entry; creates, updates, and maintains applicant files. Tracks and notifies customers regarding the status of permit applications and/or plan reviews. Processes building and trade permits, contractor licenses, Certificates of Occupancy, and all other construction/development related documents. Receives, coordinates, and schedules all inspections. Prepares, copies, files, sends, faxes, scans, and emails various types of correspondence. Provides clerical support to the Development Services regarding permitting, inspections, and retention. Coordinates and responds to open records requests. Responsible for maintain state retention requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent, and one year customer service/permit processing experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Appointment/Commission as a Notary Public is required. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
