Salary: $720 per week

The Department of Recreation and Parks - Camping Section - Griffith Park Boys Camp is recruiting for seasonal Residential Camp Counselors. Residential camp counselors supervise children in an all day and overnight environment from Monday through Friday (programming runs 7:00am-9:00pm)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Supervise children in an all day and overnight environment.
• Responsible for the general wellbeing of campers.
• Identify and meet campers needs.
• Carry out and follow camp programs.
• Provide a safe, friendly, loving, encouraging environment to campers and co-workers.
• Create, plan and lead a variety of activities.
• Follow and adhere to all COVID protocols which includes but are not limited to wearing a mask, cleaning facilities and equipment, staying within a specific pod, washing hands regularly, etc.
• Available June 10, 2024 through August 9, 2024. (Counselors may request 1 week off during the summer.) Dates may vary depending on COVID protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be Male at least 18 years of age;
• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent and preferably 1 year of college;
• Experience working with children is desired but not mandatory;
• Ability to identify and put campers needs first;
• Ability to work as part of a team and live and work in a community environment;
• Ability to teach a variety of activities;
• Possess an enthusiastic and positive outlook;
• Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to speak and perform in front of large groups;
• Ability to communicate and work with a variety of ages and skill levels plus the desire to make a positive difference in a child’s life;
• Present a neat and professional appearance as well as possess good character, integrity, judgment and adaptability;
• Possess critical thinking skills and techniques to be applied to situations that may arise with campers;
• Ability to accept supervision and guidance
• In accordance with the City’s Ordinance 187134, all City employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
