The Recreation Assistant plays a vital role in supporting recreational programs and activities designed for students of various ages. Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and leading recreational activities, including sports, arts & crafts, games, and field trips.
- Supervise and engage with campers, promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing camp rules and policies.
- Set up and clean up activity areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained.
- Support staff in administrative tasks such as attendance tracking, scheduling, and parent communication.
- Provide first aid when necessary and respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and supervision.
- Foster teamwork, inclusion, and enthusiasm among campers and fellow staff.
Experience
- Must be at least 18 years.
- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors and stay active for extended periods.
- Must be available to work the full duration of the camp season, including training sessions.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in behavior management strategies to effectively handle various situations that may arise during activities.
- Background in theater, performing arts, or sports can be beneficial for engaging students through creative expression.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both staff and campers are essential for success in this role.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 39.5 per week
