The Associate Golf Professional is responsible for a variety of support functions to assist the Head Golf Professional, and First and Second Assistant Golf Professionals. Associate Golf Professional functions include managing quality golf operational facilities, customer services that enhance the golfer experience, retail sales, and managing support staff. Under the direct supervision of the Head Golf Professional, this position is responsible for supporting golf operational facilities. 

All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all customers. 


May have the opportunity for teaching private golf lessons; junior and group instruction, clinics and schools. May be required to work early mornings, evenings, and holiday shifts.

This is a Non-Exempt, Tier II, year-round, benefited, position. Tier II employees work 30 to 35 hours a week consistently with eligibility for pro-rated benefits.


Additional Compensation Opportunities:
Golf Instruction: Associate golf professionals are required to maintain time records with the City's Executime software, detailing time spent as instructors separate of time spent in primary duties. During a 2-week pay period associate professionals must complete 70 hours of primary duty time in order to receive 80% of their lesson revenue earned within that same pay period. Golf lesson fees earned are split 80% to professional and 20% to the City.

  • Assist in creating and implementing management strategies for all profit centers. This includes:
    • Golf course green fees
    • Annual season pass fees
    • Golf cart, pushcart, and rental club fees
    • Four practice facilities
    • Golf shop merchandise
    • Golf instruction and program fees
  • Assist with tournament operations as well as daily public play
  • Administer pace-of-play programs, which result in maximum revenues coupled with high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Teach golf lessons and clinics to a variety of age groups
  • Organize, facilitate, and drive new, comprehensive junior and adult player development opportunities
  • Assist in the coordination of the Men’s, Women’s, Senior’s, and Junior's weekly leagues
  • Enforce all golf course policies and procedures
  • Assist in managing the cart fleet
  • Assist in supervising support staff
  • Assist the Head Golf Professional as well as First and Second Assistant Golf Professionals in training, supervising, evaluating performance, and administering policies and procedures for employees involved in operating the golf course
  • Work at the counter including opening and closing duties, of the golf shop as needed
  • Manage Inventory; price and track golf shop merchandise
  • Handle cash and operate the cash register
  • Assist with daily cash preparation and revenue reports
  • Compile cash reports and change collection to create end-of-the-day sales reports
  • Order and inventory all supplies (golf shop, carts and restrooms, etc.)
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Other duties as required
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational credential
  • One year of experience in a medium volume golf facility
  • PGA Apprentice Program registration preferred or ability to enroll within six months of hire
  • An equivalent combination of acceptable education, training, and experience may be considered

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Golf Genius tournament software
  • Knowledge of golf shop procedures and products required for golf retail sales
  • Excellent customer service skills; skilled in oral and written communication
  • Ability to tactfully and courteously communicate with the public in adverse/ confrontational situations
  • Utilize computer management systems for tracking revenues, merchandise, and golf course statistical information
  • Provide expert instruction to golfers
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the game of golf
  • Ability to open and close the golf shop, cart and practice facilities
  • Ability to follow instructions in writing or verbally
  • Experience working with computers, cash drawers, answering phones, golf shop software, etc.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, the public, and others

Special License, Registration, or Certificate Required:
  • Current driver’s license in good standing with no major violations in the past three (3) years with the ability to obtain a Colorado Driver License within ninety (90) days of hire and must maintain good standing through employment
  • Currently registered in either PGA Affiliate Program or PGM Associate Program or ability to register within first six (6) months of employment. Currently Level 1 or higher in PGA Affiliate Program or PGM Associate Program preferred.

Work Environment:
Work is constantly performed indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to extreme temperatures. Work is performed in a public golf course setting in which instruction and basic golf course maintenance are performed year round. Materials and Equipment required to work with: Computers and related office equipment, golf carts, golf clubs, range pickers, shovels, box cutters, broom, blower, vacuum, and gloves.
Physical Requirements:
Work performed is physical in nature and requires sufficient stamina and strength. Will frequently sit, stand and walk indoor/outdoor and over uneven terrain. Occasionally squat and kneel to perform golf instruction and assist in course maintenance; occasionally climb ladders and reach overhead to perform clubhouse maintenance; frequently bend, twist and reach below shoulder to instruct and demonstrate proper golf techniques. Constant light grasp, fine manipulation and handling to properly use office equipment and tools; frequent firm grasp to safely demonstrate proper golf mechanics with clubs. Frequent step up/down and actuate mechanism to safely operate and enter and exit golf carts and vehicles. Constant near acuity to perform office tasks; constant far acuity to observe course for maintenance needs and safety hazards; constant hearing to effectively communicate with guests, staff and to be aware of any possible dangers on golf course. Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds from floor to overhead to stock merchandise and empty buckets of range balls.
