Position: Water Production Superintendent

Pay: $60-70,000 Depending on Qualifications & Experience
DESCRIPTION
Responsible for overseeing the operations of the water production facilities, including the operation of the well field, to ensure the reliable and efficient supply of clean water to the community. This critical role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship.
QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in water production operations, including three (3) years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
· Grade "C" Groundwater Production Certification issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required.
· Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of placement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Knowledge of water production, treatment processes, distribution systems, and regulatory requirements.
· Extensive knowledge of the proper use, safety, and repair of 100% chlorine gas and chlorine gas systems.
· Skill in leadership and communication, with the ability to effectively manage staff and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
· Ability to use computer applications related to water production management and data analysis effectively.
MAJOR DUTIES
· Supervise and coordinate activities of water production staff.
· Oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants, well field, pumping stations, and distribution systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
· Implement strategies to optimize water production processes, maximize efficiency, and minimize costs.
· Monitor water quality parameters and make adjustments to treatment processes as necessary to maintain compliance with safety and health regulations.
· Ensure that all water production activities comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, including TCEQ and EPA standards.
· Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks and prevent accidents or incidents.
· Develop and manage departmental budgets, including forecasting operational expenses and capital improvements.
· Procure equipment, supplies, and services necessary for the operation and maintenance of water production facilities.
· Prepare technical and analytical reports for distribution to the TCEQ, Texas Water Development Board, Pineywoods Groundwater District and other agencies, as mandated.
· Provide training and professional development opportunities for water production staff.
· Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees.
· Coordinate emergency response efforts during water supply disruptions, natural disasters, or other incidents affecting water production and distribution.
· Implement contingency plans and communicate with stakeholders to minimize service interruptions and ensure public safety.
· Other duties as assigned.
