The Lynchburg Circuit Court Clerk's Office is seeking an energetic, hard-working individual for a full-time position as Deputy Clerk assigned to the Recordation Division. Must possess excellent customer service skills, have strong typing skills, and be very knowledgeable in computer applications.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Responsible for greeting and assisting customers Answering phone and directing callsProcessing payments as ordered by the court (court costs and fines; restitution)Docketing and indexing judgments & posting for reviewProcessing ordination applications and issuing certificates Administering oaths to Notary Publics, as well as, oaths for other entities Setting up court costs and payment schedules for defendantsRecording and coping Military Discharge (DD214)Processing concealed handgun permitsProcessing daily mail and responding to correspondencesProcessing writs on Virginia Employment Commission & etc.Taxation collectionsAccepting passport applicationsProcessing marriage licenses Receipting SRA/OCRA applicationsProcessing end of the month reportsIndexing documents for officeAssisting customers in locating documents within the Records RoomAssisting supervisor or the clerk with other tasks as requestedADDITIONAL DUTIESWhen unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all City employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Must successfully complete IS100 and IS700 National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment. May also be required to complete higher levels of NIMS training as determined appropriate for the position.Depending on work assignment, may be required to obtain Notary Public license.Depending on work assignment, may be required to have a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and acceptable driving record according to City criteria.Relevant background checks must be completed and approved.
