NATURE OF WORK

The Lift Station Maintenance Worker aids the Lift Station Mechanic and Foreman by ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of all lift stations, sump pumps/wells, and related pressurized wastewater collection and distribution equipment. This position performs routine work to in support of the operational readiness of such equipment.

This position participates in a variety of maintenance construction activities such as:

• Inspects and maintains lift stations, pumps, motors, and associated equipment/systems while conducting preventive maintenance.
• Ensures area around lift stations and associated systems are clear of debris and vegetative overgrowth.
• Assists the Lift Station Mechanic performing scheduled maintenance of said equipment.
• Assists with Vac Truck operations to clean and pump out wet wells.
• Assists in the maintenance of instrumentation devices such as pump control units, telemetry control units, flow meters, level control devices, and gauges.
• Maintains all years, landscaping, and fencing within lift station and plant parameters.
• Restores sod, asphalt, and concrete as necessary to ensure the safety and protection of the city's lift stations and associated equipment.
• Repairs and/or replaces motors, pumps, piping, structures, and associated equipment.
• Works within confined spaces such as wet wells, manholes, other structures.
• Operates or assists with the operation of a chain hoist and/or crane truck to removal and/or placement of equipment, motors, and pumps.
• Understands safe lifting and rigging practices.
• Performs related work as required and/or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduation from an accredited high school. Post-secondary education or trade school education desired.
• One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance of lift stations and associated systems.
• Must be able to see and distinguish colors.
• Must have a valid Florida driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Occasionally - Lift/Carry: 51-100 Lbs., Push/Pull: 41 - 100 Lbs., Crawl, Sit, Drive Standard
• Frequently - Lift/Carry: 21-50 Lbs., Push/Pull: 13-40 Lbs., Bend, Squat/Kneel, Climb, Reach Above Shoulder, Reach Outward, Stand, Walk, Type/Keyboard
• Frequently - Squat, kneel, crawl, step up, bend, reach above shoulder, reach outward, twist, turn and other routine physical movements.
• Constantly - Lift/Carry: 10-20 Lbs., Push/Pull: 12 Lbs. or Less, Twist/Turn, Handling/Fingering, Drive Automatic
• Occasionally work in tight, small spaces.
• Must be able to see and recognize colors.
