This is responsible advanced-level professional payroll auditing, accounting, and supervision at Metro Transit. It is an exciting time to come onboard as we are implementing a new comprehensive technology system. This position has varying degrees of responsibility for general accounting, budgeting, financial reporting and primary responsibility for payroll oversight and staff supervision which will be performed independently under the general supervision of the Transit Finance Manager. This position requires a high level of independence in completing assignments and supervising employees.
The position is posted as a Transit Accountant 3 or 4. Transit Accountant 3 is the advanced project level of the Transit Accountant series with duties described in this posting. Transit Accountant 4 is the advanced program level of the Transit Accountant series and does the work of a Transit Accountant 3 with greater independence. In addition, this classification develops and supervises major Metro Transit accounting functions, and work is more developmental than administrative in nature. A placement decision will be made at the time of hire based on knowledge and experience of the chosen candidate.
Starting salary range for Transit Accountant 3 is $83,452.98 - $100,293.44
Starting salary range for Transit Accountant 4 is $91,228.28 - $110,139.90
Minimum Qualifications
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting setting, including one (1) year of experience directly related to processing payroll; and
- Two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience (could be within the accounting and payroll experience)
-OR-
- Two (2) years of education in accounting or a closely related program can be substituted for two (2) years of accounting experience. One (1) year of payroll experience and two (2) years of leadership experience still required.
