Starting salary range for Transit Accountant 4 is $91,228.28 - $110,139.90

- Lead the preparation, auditing, and analysis of payroll
- Develop and implement new procedures
- Work in conjunction with Metro HR staff regarding pay, leave, hiring, and separation issues
- Analyze, maintain, and monitor employee status, seniority dates, and leave benefit balances
- Work in conjunction with City Payroll to update necessary salary schedules, wage rate, data tables, and labor contract changes in shared software
- Serve as main contact for interpretations as they relate to Metro payroll and leave
- Work with HR and City Attorney in handling confidential matters pertaining to grievance/arbitration settlements
- Supervise clerk and technician staff, including hiring, training, counseling, grievance handling, performance evaluations, and disciplining staff
- Prioritize and coordinate staff work assignments
- Establish operating policies and procedures
- Point person regarding all payroll related areas such as the labor contract, laws and regulations related to FMLA usage, functionality of software associated with processing payroll, etc.
- Supervise AP and AR functions, including invoice processing for various programs
- Assist Transit Finance Manager in year-end financial audit preparation and other annual reporting
- Represent Finance Unit at various meetings
- Develop tracking reports for management and other groups
- Respond to inquiries from providers, residents, employees, and retirees
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting setting, including one (1) year of experience directly related to processing payroll; and
Two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience (could be within the accounting and payroll experience)
Two (2) years of education in accounting or a closely related program can be substituted for two (2) years of accounting experience. One (1) year of payroll experience and two (2) years of leadership experience still required.
