The City of Manassas is looking for individuals who can enforce pool rules and regulations and monitor pool use for the safety of the general public and to train new Lifeguards.
The selected candidates observe and oversee the activities of swimmers; scan the water; enforce pool rules; maintain discipline at facility; take preventive safety actions; rescue distressed swimmers; provide emergency first aid and CPR; perform other emergency lifesaving services as needed; provide written reports on incidents, injuries, and rescues; and maintain related documentation.
Reports employee concerns and problems to pool managers, coordinating and assigning work, provides direction, etc.; assists with staff training.
Maintains swimming pool and facility; monitors, regulates, and records pool chemical levels; monitors and regulates temperature of pool water; vacuums and skims pool; cleans deck areas, restrooms, locker rooms, walkways, and pool furniture; stocks paper goods; maintains related documentation.
Performs and completes preventative maintenance and essential cleaning tasks for the pool, deck, concessions, building, locker rooms, bathrooms, pump room, basement, and other related areas within the pool facilities.
Assists in instructing swimming lessons; registers program participants.
Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies and procedures; participates in in-service activities; attends meetings and training sessions as appropriate.
Prepares a variety of documentation such as water quality tests and results records, safety reports, incident and injury reports, aquatic rescue reports, opening and closing duty records, and timesheets.
Refers to pool operators training, lifeguard training, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, AED, first aid training, employee handbooks, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
One year of lifeguarding experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid/AED. Must be at least 16 years of age.
