The PositionThe Maple Grove Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Food Service Coordinator for the Maple Grove Community Center. As the Food Service Coordinator, you will get to organize and interact with guest, plan menus and budget, and coordinate setting up for events. You will also supervise staff in the Food Service areas of the Maple Grove Parks & Recreation department, including the Community Center and Town Green. Pre-employment Requirements:
This position will require the following pre-employment requirements: a reference check and background check.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Concession, Guest Service, and Lower Desk Customer Service staff.
- Research and determine food products, retail merchandise, and pricing for all service areas.
- Address and resolve guest and team member issues to maintain a positive experience.
- Maintain inventory levels, conduct regular food service and retail inventory assessments, and order necessary supplies, including wristbands.
- Process financial documentation required for guest service and concessions operations.
- Work with the rental staff to accommodate food service orders for rental clients.
- Coordinate operations with OMGHA Hockey Boosters for Community Center Arena Concessions.
- Ensure sanitary operation in compliance with Health Department and OSHA regulations.
- Establish procedures for procuring, operating, and maintaining all concession equipment.
- Coordinates efforts to ensure the City of Maple Grove is an equitable, inclusive, and respectful organization and supports the City’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and respect the diversity of customers and co-workers, effectively communicating with individuals whose first language may be one other than English.
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Office Software and a combination of point-of-sale equipment.
- Food preparation equipment
- Safe food handling
Ability to:
- Be accurate in record-keeping and accounting for products.
- Communicate well with employees and the public, orally and in writing.
- Lift 50 pounds.
- Make decisions in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Work independently
Qualifications
Need to have:
- Possession of a Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and reliable access to a vehicle.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in a retail or food service setting
- Safe food handling and Sanitation Certification, or ability to obtain within three months.
- Flexibility regarding scheduling to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Nice to have:
- Experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in ordering and stocking products in a food service environment.
- Ability to speak sign language or a language other than English.
