The Position
Join our dynamic team in a pivotal role at our North Metro Regional Public Safety Training Facility. As the manager of this facility you'll oversee operations, manage budgets, and supervise staff to ensure a safe and effective training environment. - Oversees daily operations and maintenance of the facility, including lawn care, snow removal, and technical equipment upkeep.
- Conducts regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and identifies areas for improvement.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive safety programs and emergency protocols for facility operations and grounds.
- Supervises part-time temporary Range Safety Officers, handling recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinates planning, scheduling, and staffing of events, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and all events run smoothly.
- Provides direct supervision during events to ensure compliance with safety protocols and participant satisfaction.
- Promotes and solicits the use of the facility by other agencies, training groups, and the community through outreach campaigns.
- Drafts marketing materials, including newsletters and promotional content, to enhance facility visibility and encourage participation.
- Engages with local organizations and the community to foster partnerships, increasing access and usage of the facility.
- Assists in preparing and monitoring the annual budget, encompassing both capital outlay and ongoing operating costs.
- Performs accounting activities, including processing payables, receivables, and tracking financial discrepancies.
- Analyzes budget performance and prepares financial reports for review by the division commander and advisory board.
- Creates, implements, and enforces policies and procedures governing facility operations, ensuring they are clear and accessible.
- Provides information and support to stakeholders, joint powers members, and the public, through various communication channels.
- Facilitates meetings and discussions to gather feedback and input from diverse audiences, promoting an inclusive environment.
Knowledge of:
- Familiarity with effective training methodologies and practices in public safety contexts.
- Understanding of the daily functions and logistics involved in managing a range facility.
- Knowledge of relevant governmental frameworks that guide operations and compliance.
- Awareness of the legal standards and regulations affecting facility operations and public safety training.
- Understanding the principles that guide effective supervision, training, and the evaluation of staff performance.
- Accurately interpret and apply applicable laws, ordinances, and departmental rules and regulations.

Qualifications
An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.
Need to have:
- Associates degree in criminal justice, public safety administration, business management, or related field
- Unrestricted Minnesota driver’s license or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Three years of experience in public or private administration, or public safety training
- Two years of direct supervisory experience
Nice to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public safety administration, business management, or related field
- Experience with Facility Management Systems and computerized firearms training
- Experience in handling accounts payable and accounts receivable preparation and execution

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions:
Office and Gun Range environment; exposure to noise, working closely with others, frequent interruptions. Requires an annual blood test to determine lead levels.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time; general manual dexterity; adequate hearing, vision and speech; ability to operate assigned equipment and vehicle.
