The Position
The city of Maple Grove is seeking Recreation Specialty Instructors to coordinate and lead various recreation programs. The recreation department is looking for instructors to aid in the following programs: arts & cricuts, cooking, dungeons and dragons, clubs, diversity, and inclusion. The ideal candidates for these positions will have a strong knowledge base of the program, be committed to creating an inclusive environment, and eager to interact with youth and adults. Responsibilities
- Engage youth and adults in recreational activities.
- Maintain order and ensure participants adhere to facility rules and regulations.
- Report any accidents or incidents, assisting with the completion of necessary reports.
- Clean up after each event.
- Participate in First Aid and Emergency Training when provided.
- Coordinates efforts to ensure the City of Maple Grove is an equitable, inclusive, and respectful organization and supports the City’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and respect the diversity of customers and co-workers, effectively communicating with individuals whose first language may be one other than English.
- Performs other related duties as apparent or assigned by the Recreation program specialist.
Knowledge of:
- Recreational activities and instructional techniques.
- Basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
Ability to:
- Interact with participants in a caring, responsible, and professional manner.
- Work effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Handle emergencies or incidents that may arise.
- Communicate effectively with the public.
- Work well with youth and others in a recreational setting.
- Make rational decisions and work independently.
Qualifications
Need to have:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Formal education or training in recreation or a related field.
- Experience in leading recreational programs or activities.
- Ability to speak multiple languages.
