Lead Gymnastics Instructor

Role Summary:

Audubon Park (1320 29th Ave NE) is hiring 2 experienced gymnastics instructors to teach beginners through intermediate gymnastics classes in a recreational setting for ages 3-4, 5-6, 7-11. Classes are Tuesdays & Thursdays 6-8:15/8:30pm, year-round, and begin when the role is filled. We are located 9 blocks off 35W and close to the U of M.

Required Skills & Abilities:

· Plan, prepare and lead age-appropriate gymnastics lessons for children ages 3-11.

· Teach basic gymnastics skills such as tumbling, balancing, and apparatus use.

· Ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students.

· Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing feedback to students and parents.

· Maintain a clean and organized gym area.

· Enforce all safety rules and regulations.

· Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns.

· Develop positive relationships with students, parent/caregivers and park staff.

· Ability to lift and move equipment.

· Ability to physically assist students during class.

Related Work:

• May work outside of typical scheduled hours to accomplish requirements for the position.
• Accurately check attendance sheets.
• Maintain accurate and timely communication with parents/guardians.
• Ensure participants are picked up from program by an authorized person.
• Ensure safety of children and take immediate action in any situation deemed unsafe.
• Demonstrate creativity and initiative in planning curriculum.
• Ensure rooms and activity stations are attractive, clean, set up and stocked.
• Demonstrate flexibility and change plans and adapt to circumstances when necessary.
• Accurately complete detailed reports (accidents, incidents, behavior) in a timely manner.
• Appropriately address issues with participants individually.
• Perform related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Experience as a gymnastics coach or athlete.

· Experience working with youth ages 3-11 years old.

Schedule:

· Part-time schedule Tuesday & Thursday 5:15-9:00pm, accounting for set-up, class-time, break, & take-down.

· Hours may vary during the summer.

· Eligible for hours within other program areas.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.57 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week
