In this position, the Deputy Police Chief will be responsible for: Department Leadership & OperationsDirects and oversees police department divisions, ensuring efficiency in daily operations, scheduling, and resource deployment.Leads the Watch Commander system for division commanders.Acts as the Chief of Police when designated, making independent decisions in alignment with city and department priorities.Oversees emergency management coordination with Fire Department leadership.Leads departmental meetings, including the Police Leadership Group, in the absence of the Chief.Strategic Planning & Policy DevelopmentAssists in planning and research to anticipate short- and long-term department needs, including personnel, equipment, and capital outlay forecasts.Develops and evaluates policies, procedures, and programs to ensure accountability and effectiveness at the community level.Represents the Chief of Police on various boards and workgroups.Community Engagement & Public RelationsDirects community relations, crime prevention, and engagement initiatives in collaboration with division commanders.Provides interviews, press releases, and public statements to media outlets.Ensures communication strategies align with the department’s mission and values, including social media outreach.
