Part Time Pool Assistant

Need to be available Monday-Friday June 2-13 evenings 4-7:30pm and Monday- Friday June 16-August 1, 8am-noon
NATURE OF WORK
This is the part-time position within the Marion Parks and Recreation Department. Work involves instructing and overseeing the Red Cross Swim Lesson program. Direction and supervision is received from Recreation Superintendent and Swim Lesson Coordinator.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
Help with Swim Lessons as an aide.
Work with swim lesson instructor (lifeguard).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Knowledge of all swimming strokes and techniques.
Ability to concentrate on pool supervision in an active environment with many distractions.
Ability to handle staff and children in a water environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English to communicate effectively with fellow employees and general public by telephone, written format, and in person.
Ability to work long hours outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace or citizens encountered during work.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIRED
Need to be at least 14 years of age
Salary : $12 - $14
