JOB DESCRIPTION
This is concentrated work in the maintenance, inspection, construction and repair of City streets, properties and sewers.
1. An employee in this position is responsible for performing duties to maintain the streets, parks and sewer maintenance. These will be all projects concerning streets, curbs, sidewalks, alleys, parks, sanitary sewer and storm sewer. This work will require manual labor, both indoors and outdoors. In addition, the employee is to be proficient in being able to use heavy equipment such as backhoe, mowers, tractors, sewer jetter, dump truck, etc
2. Work is reviewed by the Public Works Manager and or Mayor through discussion and inspection, principally for determining general progress and adherence to policies and regulations. Major technical or policy problems are discussed with mayor before taking action. (CC2000 2.0452)

1. Responsible for the upkeep of City streets.
2. Snow plowing
3. Repairing blacktop.
4. Repairing culverts.
5. Install culverts.
6. Cleaning culverts.
7. Mowing grass
8. Tree maintenance
9. Cleaning ditches
10. Park maintenance
11. Maintenance work on sewer collection systems.
12. Wastewater treatment facility maintenance
13. Responsible for the upkeep and the maintenance of all equipment used.
14. Investigates complaints regarding drainage and makes recommendations or plans for correction.
15. Performs related work as required.
16. General construction, repair, and carpentry.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS
1. Considerable knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction and maintenance of public works.
2. Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
3. Knowledge of the geography of the city.
4. Ability to supervise maintenance projects of a varied nature.
5. Proficient in operation of machinery used.
6. Proficient in the knowledge of hand tools.
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, subordinates and the public.
8. Ability to operate machinery and perform manual labor for prolonged periods, sometimes under adverse weather. (CC2000 §2.0454)
Requirements
1. Valid Missouri driver’s license
2. Wastewater Operator licenses D (within 2 years)
