What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator I (Parks and Recreation) position at City of Maumelle?
General Purpose of Position: Maintain the grounds, buildings and structures in the Parks and Recreation system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Mow and weed eat all Parks and Recreation Facilities.
- Clean and maintain shops, city vehicles, and storage areas for all equipment
- Perform maintenance on deck mowers, reel mowers, infielders, tractors, mule. Maintenance includes oil and filter changes, sharpen blades, tire pressure, coolant, grease, etc.
- Help set up for events at lakes. Some events include Halloween (haunted house), Easter egg hunt, fishing derby, Valentine dance, and other special events throughout the year.
- Help string and paint soccer fields when needed.
- Fix leaks on sprinkler systems and install, replace sprinkler heads and water lines to the sprinklers when needed.
- Spray chemicals for turf care (grass/weed killer, ant killer, herbicides, chelated iron, Roundup, etc.).
- Clean and maintain bathrooms and trash at all parks.
- Other miscellaneous jobs as assigned which might include any of the following: welding, electrical work, painting, mechanical work, plumbing, landscaping, carpentry (building/roof/structure repairs), pick up trash, inspect playground equipment, haul trailers and equipment, install French drains, aerate fields; brick, rock or stone masonry; lay carpet, cut trees, split wood, and anything else that might be needed to maintain the parks and grounds)
- Complete other duties and tasks as needed or assigned.
Education and Experience: Qualifications include high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two (2) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
