Summary Of Position
The Fire Services Support Specialist is responsible for procuring, maintaining, and distributing supplies and equipment necessary for the efficient operation of the McKinney Fire Department (MFD). This role includes managing inventory, procurement, distribution, and maintenance of all equipment and supplies. The Fire Services Support Specialist will ensure that fire personnel have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively and in compliance with all applicable standards.

Inventory Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the below Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute.
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in experience in managing, procuring, and distributing essential supplies, equipment, and materials to support the operations of an organization.
Preferred Qualifications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of heavy weight (50-100 pounds). Special vision requirements include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to stand, walk, and conduct inspections in warehouse or field environments for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tasks may risk exposure to extreme heat/cold or extreme weather conditions, strong and or/toxic chemicals, dust or pollen, electric shock or vibration.

Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate records of all equipment and supplies, including their quantity, condition, and location.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory to ensure accurate recordkeeping and identify discrepancies.
- Implement systems to track the assignment and return of equipment to personnel.
- Identify the need for new equipment and supplies through communication with department heads and operational teams.
- Research vendors, obtain quotes, and negotiate pricing to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Make purchases within the guidelines of budgetary constraints and departmental policies, ensuring compliance with city procurement processes.
- Responsible for the distribution of equipment and supplies to MFD personnel as needed.
- Track the issuance of items and ensure timely return or replacement as required.
- Coordinate with other divisions to anticipate and meet operational supply needs.
- Responsible for maintenance schedules to ensure all equipment is regularly inspected, serviced, and remains in good working condition.
- Coordinate with external vendors or internal teams for repairs or replacement of equipment as necessary.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are documented and tracked for future reference.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and internal policies regarding the procurement, storage, and use of equipment and supplies.
- Stay updated on industry standards and best practices related to fire department logistics and supply chain management.
- Assist in the preparation of the logistics budget, providing input on anticipated needs and costs.
- Monitor expenditures related to equipment and supplies, ensuring adherence to the budget.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements where feasible.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Must pass a drug screen and background check.
