The anticipated hiring range for the Custodian position is $19.81 (first step) to $20.80 or $21.84 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.Â

Required Education And Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Six (6) months or more experience as a custodian with an industrial, janitorial firm, or commercial business and thorough knowledge of custodial materials and methods.
- Knowledge and experience with various types of floor maintenance equipment including floor scrubbers, extractors, buffers, and carpet cleaners.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Ability to obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance within three months of hire date.Â
- Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).Â
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- Successful completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.

- To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to complete considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
