Medford Police Department is recruiting for multiple part-time School Marshals.
School Marshals patrol school grounds during hours when school is in session. This part-time work schedule is typically for a 25-hour work week, during the school year; these hours are flexible, depending on the school's needs.

Required Education & Experience:
- Must have five (5) years of experience as a certified Police Officer.
- Have a current Oregon DPSST Police Officer certification; or
- Have a current out-of-state Police Officer certification in good standing with the ability to obtain an Oregon DPSST number.
Special Qualifications:
- Must be willing to maintain Oregon DPSST certification as required by DPSST.
- Must meet DPSST established physical standards.

- Possession of a valid driver’s license by date of hire.
- Ability to maintain acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- Completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.
- Ability to obtain Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance upon hire.

Examples of Job Duties:
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Patrol the school grounds during the hours school is in session.
- Collaborate and work in conjunction with the Medford SRO Program.
- Engage with individuals who are coming on campus to ensure they are supposed to be there.
- Observe and report to responding School Resource Officers or Police Officers.
- Act as a liaison, when necessary, between the schools, district office administration, and the police department.
- Alert District Office if there are any facility or grounds issues that may result in a safety/security issue.
- Collaborate with school principal, district administrators, and faculty regarding school safety.
- Attend professional development activities supporting the Marshal program.
- Testify in court as needed.
- Furnishes information to the public regarding the programs.
- Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.
- Must have the ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace.
- Foster an environment that embraces diversity, integrity, trust, and respect.
- Be an integral team player, which involves flexibility, cooperation, and communication.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned
