ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Foreman to assist in maintaining golf course turf and grounds. Operates and maintains various types of golf course equipment to mow designated fairways, greens, tees and rough area at designated cutting levels. Maintains turf that includes mowing and aerating turf. Applies top dressing, pesticides, and fertilizers to course grounds. Repairs golf divots using the appropriate tools. Prepares the golf course for recreational use. Marks golf course for areas out of bounds, grounds under repair, water or lateral water hazards, and obstructions. Moves, maintains, and changes tee markers, bunkers, and holes throughout the golf course. Maintains plants including pruning trees and shrubs. Prepares machinery for use and storage. Operates and performs preventative maintenance on turf equipment. Notifies the supervisor of repairs and maintenance work needed for golf course turf and grounds.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Operates and performs maintenance on other golf equipment as needed.
2. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to operate assigned equipment and to engage and disengage attachments. Requires ability to climb onto equipment. Requires ability to perform manual work, which will involve bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching overhead, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., traversing uneven grounds, and maneuver around debris. Must be able to perform and operate and perform preventative maintenance on turf equipment such as: greens, fairway, and rough mowers, dethatchers, seeders, debris blowers, sprayers, aerators, etc. Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to receive instructions and give feedback. Involves contact with staff.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires outdoor work, sometimes in inclement weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures. May be exposed to fumes, odors, dust, and chemicals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Must have experience operating various riding mowers including green mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, etc. Specific experience operating equipment in golf course maintenance including sprayers, debris blowers, aerators, etc. is preferred. May be required to complete a battery of tests as deemed appropriate by Human Resources to evaluate competencies in operating related equipment.
