GENERAL SUMMARY
To perform the procedures involved in the physical processing of books and other materials; and to perform a variety of tasks involved in the arrangement and order of library materials in the general maintenance and upkeep of the library; and to attend to a variety of other tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by the Library Services Supervisor - Technical Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Perform tasks involved in the physical processing of library materials for both public and in-house use including property stamping, placement of RFID tags and the attaching of protective mylar covers on books.
- Perform a variety of tasks involved in ensuring that books and other library materials are shelved including clearing the book drop, clearing books from tables, and shifting books to ensure they are in their proper shelf order.
- Arrange and shelve library materials by a numerical filing system.
- Work as a cooperative and supportive member of the Library team.
- Provide the best possible customer service to the public.
- May assist with answering and directing incoming telephone calls.

EDUCATION
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

No experience required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid driver's license.
WORK SCHEDULE
Work flexible 25-hour weekly schedule.
Could work Monday - Friday 10am - 3pm or 11am - 4pm.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Part Time and Seasonal Employees :
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) : All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in TMRS. TMRS is a qualified tax-deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the City provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
Contribution to Social Security Administration is mandatory at a current rate of 6.2%.
