What are the responsibilities and job description for the Labor Supervisor III - Solid Waste position at City of Midland?
Supervises and monitors sanitation drivers in day to day operations and projects. Works as a sanitation driver when needed. Acts as Solid Waste Superintendent in his absence.

- Schedules and monitors the work of subordinate employees.
- Performs all duties in the Solid Waste division in other employees absences.
- Instructs employees in use, care and preventive maintenance of equipment and machinery.
- Reads schematics, manuals and other specifications in order to determine and make necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains equipment in good working order and keeps records of work performed.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, equipment, tools and grounds.
- Performs other duties as required.
Ability to sit, stand and transport self to and from various work sites. Ability to operate heavy equipment used in waste disposal. Employee will work in extreme temperatures bending, kneeling twisting and climbing in order to fulfill job duties. Employee may work with mechanical, biological, chemical and electrical hazards, fumes and odors, while performing job. Employee may also be required to perform heavy lifting.
Ability to effectively communicate with management, vendors and the public in order to complete work assigned. Employee also communicates with other employees in the work group and in other departments. May have contact with the TCEQ or other state personnel.
Ability to read, interpret and understand local, state, and federal regulations related to disposal of refuse. Knowledge of the processes used in the collection and disposal of waste materials. Ability to train others in the safe operation equipment. Computer skills preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent plus one to three years of experience operating heavy equipment or working in a related field required. Some college hours preferred. Valid Texas Class 'B" CDL required. Must possess or acquire a valid Texas Class 'B" Municipal Solid Waste Operator License within two years of employment.
