Position Description
Assist the Minneapolis Neighborhood Safety Department (NSD) with their data discovery, data analysis, reporting, and data visualization needs to support Department decision making and evaluation.
Work Location
This position currently works on-site only.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide strategic, analytical, and technical support for Departmental data collection and analytic activities.
2. Perform detailed analysis and identify trends.
3. Act as an intermediary between the assigned business unit and the technical community by working with the business units and IT to collect, clarify, and translate business intelligence requirements into designs and solutions.
4. Investigate and provide answers to complex data questions for a variety of reasons, including fulfilling requests from the public for Neighborhood Safety Department data.
5. Empower Neighborhood Safety Department to become more data driven.
6. Work with Neighborhood Safety Department staff to improve data quality, which includes leading the implementation of new data collection methods and best practices, including writing SOPs and conducting trainings for how to use the tools and solutions that were developed.
7. Act as a Data Steward of Neighborhood Safety Department data elements, or as a Maintainer assisting a Data Steward with the technical aspects of data stewardship
8. Satisfy ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests.
9. Work with IT as a subject matter expert in the addition of data to the Enterprise Analytic Hub and reporting framework development.
10. Collaborate with IT's Data Analytics Services group to develop sound, Enterprise aware, analytic solutions.
11. Identify data anomalies and communicate back to the data stewards.
12. Contribute to the coordination of data efforts and initiatives within the City Enterprise.
13. Act as a Subject Matter Expert for business systems and l work with IT on enhancement and system use initiatives.
14. Present results to Police Department and City Leadership in a preferred tool (such as Office, BI reports, or dashboard).
15. Conduct reviews of software solutions and make recommendations for what tools to use to meet business needs based on requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, a related field, or equivalent
Minimum Experience
Four years of experience performing related duties, that include business data discovery, analysis, query design, reporting, GIS, and statistical analysis.
