Job Description
Minnetonka's skating program is part of Learn-to-Skate USA which makes skating fun and safe for all ages, while building solid skill progression and growing self-esteem. Basic skills classes are offered for youth age 3-15. Progressive levels teach skaters to move confidently and advance to specialized skating.
Classes are held at Minnetonka Ice Arena – 3401 Williston Rd, Minnetonka, MN 55345
Duties/Responsibilities
DUTIES INCLUDE
- Assist lead skate instructor during beginner skating lessons
- Plan, organize and conduct classes; assure safety of students
- Assess skills for readiness to move to next level
- Provide instruction to a variety of skate lesson levels and ages.
- Ensure that class instruction is organized and utilizes proper skating techniques.
- Monitor the well-being of all participants throughout skate lessons.
- Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all skaters.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Skating knowledge and experience is required
- Must be 16 years old
- Must have passed the skating level that you are assigned to instruct
- Must be able to demonstrate all skills in the level that you would be assigned to teach
- Must be able to work weekend hours
- Must be detail-oriented
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
- Must be able to communicate positively and effectively with participants
- Must understand or have ability to learn teaching techniques and proper skill progression
- Prior teaching experience is a plus
