Job Summary
About the position
Instruct ice skating lessons at indoor facility for youth and adults in city recreation program. This position is responsible for teaching and demonstrating beginning, advanced basics and freestyle ice skating.
This position is part-time, non-benefit earning, working less than 20 hours per week on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and weekends.Duties and Responsibilities
- Instruct ice skating lessons.
- Assist Head Skating Instructor or other higher-level instructors in the evaluation of students.
- Oversee the work of assistant instructors in class.
- Answer questions from parents, students and other staff.
- Attend scheduled programs consistently.
- Serve as role model and mentor for program participants.
- Perform special duties as assigned including choreography and assistance with skating shows, exhibitions, and test sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Have at least one session (7-10 week course periods) of experience as an ice skating instructor with the ISI program or equivalent.
- Current ISI Professional membership and minimum of a Bronze Judge certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
- Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.

- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city’s strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
- Knowledge of ISI (Ice Skating Institute) skating programs.

Ability to:
- Demonstrate, teach, and evaluate skating techniques of students individually and in groups of all age levels.
- Establish effective working relationships with staff, students and parents.
