Job Description
Job Overview:
Shady Oak Beach is open June 7th– August 17th. We are seeking team-orientated, ambitious, energetic individuals with strong customer service skills. Working at Shady Oak Beach will develop skills and experiences geared towards professional development: problem-solving, communication, customer service, leadership, teamwork, inclusion & diversity.
The Shady Oak Beach Gate Attendant helps assist all patrons that visit the facility; from selling guest passes to renting kayaks and canoes. Communication and problem solving skills are key in day to day operations. The Gate Attendant is the first interaction the community has with the facility and as such, each attendant is expected to present themselves in a professional and upbeat manner.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintains constant surveillance of the front entrance of the beach area
- Understands, follows, and consistently applies and enforces safety and facility rules, policies and guidelines
- Assists with opening and closing the facility, completing and maintaining records, reports, and cash drawers
- Communicates professionally, effectively, and concisely with both the community and staff
- Maintains cleanliness and a hazard-free environment; performs various custodial duties such as sweeping, picking up trash, and sanitizing all facilities within the beach area
- Requires attentiveness, outstanding customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to be proactive and exceed patron expectations
- Possesses general knowledge of beach operations and emergency action procedures. Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and assist in emergency response
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains a positive public image by immediately addressing questions and concerns from staff and patrons. Contact and ask for assistance from the facility supervisors or manager when necessary
Qualifications
- Ability to attend required staff meetings and trainings (every Wednesday at 8:00am)
- Must be available to attend job-specific training starting late May prior to the summer season

A minimum of 20 hours of weekly availability (equivalent to 3-4 shifts a week)
- Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be available and commit to employment for the majority of the summer season (early June through mid-August)
- Must be 16 years of age prior to the start of the season
Additional Information
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Moderately physically demanding work, typically involving a combination of occasional climbing, kneeling, and crouching. Occasionally lifts and/or move items weighing up to 30 lbs or heavier items (300 lbs) with assistance. When working outdoors, staff are exposed to all types of weather conditions,
