Minot, ND (population 48,377), is seeking collaborative and visionary candidates to lead the Human Resources Department. The Director supervises a team of three in delivering all human resources and payroll functions for the city’s 453 FTEs. The Director reports to the City Manager and the City Council and is also responsible for the Civil Service Commission.
Minot is a dynamic and vibrant city with a strong economy driven by energy and agriculture. It houses Minot State University and is adjacent to Minot Air Force Base, which employs 11,827 individuals including military personnel, their families, and civilian staff.
The city offers remarkable recreational amenities, including Roosevelt Park Zoo, many city parks, over one hundred miles of trails, six golf courses, and Lake Sakakawea — one of the largest manufactured reservoirs in the United States is also nearby. Besides an active downtown featuring unique shops and restaurants, Minot is recognized for its excellent schools and direct air service to major cities. It hosts significant cultural events such as The North Dakota State Fair, Norsk Hostfest, and The Minot Symphony.
Desired Minimum Training and Experience:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resource Management, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
Candidates should have at least five years of progressively responsible human resource management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. SHRM or SPHR certification is highly desirable.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate experience in strategic planning, leadership development, and the implementation of best practices in Human Resources. Excellent communication skills and an approachable leadership style are essential.
Compensation:
The starting salary range is $89,208 to $132,430 DOQ with excellent benefits including participation in the ND retirement system, health insurance, vacation, and sick leave.
