What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Crew Leader position at City of Missouri City?
This is full-time (First/Mid-Level Officials and Managers) position within the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. An individual in this position will provide field supervision of the daily maintenance of city parks. Reports to Parks Superintendent.
- Operate and conduct routine maintenance of parks and landscaping equipment; including but not limited to: chainsaws, weed trimmers, blowers, aerial lifts, spray and water tankers, tractors, excavators, and City vehicles.
- Maintain and monitor City parks and trails; including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, trash and litter removal, routine maintenance, sports field preparation; fertilizing, mulching, and applying insecticides.
- Provide field supervision and direction of a Parks Maintenance Crew; Hire, train, assign, evaluate and discipline a crew of Technicians.
- Perform routine safety and quality control inspections; Review and document inspections to ensure maintenance standards are met; Inspect the work of the department’s maintenance contractors.
- Plan and implement weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly maintenance tasks and operations.
- Complete construction projects as assigned; Operate light and heavy equipment as needed.
- Perform administrative duties including answering telephones, writing and responding to communications; assist with completing work orders; track supplies and inventory.
- Assist with Parks and Recreation special events and other City departments;
- Work on emergency operations during natural disasters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate and a minimum of three (3) years professional grounds maintenance and construction are required. Two (2) years relevant experience in heavy equipment operation. A valid Class A Commercial driver's license required. Other certification(s) may be required. |
The Department of Human Resources & Organizational Development may consider an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Salary : $44,425 - $55,532
