What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECREATION ATTENDANT position at City of Monroe (NC)?
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, standing, and walking; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and noise. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
Admitting and overseeing participants utilizing the recreation facilities including community centers, established special event areas, athletic programs, park usage and athletic fields; provides general maintenance and cleaning for facilities. Collect user fees. Monitors participants utilizing parks and recreation facilities including afterschool and community center programs, field and facility rentals and department special events. Answers telephone and assists callers or forwards to appropriate personnel. Enforces facility and park rules and regulations and maintains order. Assists in maintaining cleanliness and order of the recreation center, park facilities and athletic fields. Prepares facilities, equipment and grounds for community and athletic activities; maintains security. Maintains activity reports; fills out accident reports and administers first aid. Performs related tasks as required.
General knowledge of the methods and practices of community recreation work including knowledge of the equipment and techniques, relevant rules and regulations of social, artistic, craft and/or athletic programs for children; ability to instruct common recreational activities; maintain order in a public facility; ability to enforce rules and regulations and maintain discipline; ability to adhere to program standards and objectives outlined; ability to manage a large number of children and groups; ability to prepare and maintain records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, program participants and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Possession of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic First Aid certifications or ability to become certified within 6 months.
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
