Overview
Temporary Position includes 999 hours in a calendar year: Employee will work a minimum of 16 hours a week/ up to 40 hours during peak months. Pending the needs of operation. Must work most weekends and holidays and allow for some flexibility for weekdays when scheduling permits. Required to work 40 hours a week for the first 4 weeks for training.
No benefits included.
The Campground Recreation Assistant position primarily performs office tasks such as data entry, answering phones and reservations for McDowell Nature Preserve Campground, Nature Preserve Shelters, and Copperhead Island rentals. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel. Also includes grounds maintenance within the Campground such as cleaning restrooms, maintaining campsites, picking up trash.
Duties
- Answering phones, provide park information, complete reservations, responding to customer inquires
- Perform daily office duties such as daily cash reports, reservation reports, inventory, and office maintenance duties
- Greet arriving guests, assist with check-in and check-out
- Take an active role in seeing that facilities and equipment are properly maintained and used appropriately
- Clean campsites, fire pits, picnic tables, parking areas, and roadways
- Clean Campground Bath House as per housekeeping schedule
- Ensure vehicle procedures are followed
- Know, understand, and follow established rules and standards for Campground operations, housekeeping, and sanitation
- Monitor campground loop and handle any concerns or questions from guests
- Sell firewood, ice and other store items
- Be a friendly and helpful resource to visitors
- Enforce campground and park rules and regulations
- Resolve conflicts among campers and report problems to management as needed
Skills
- Must be proficient in computer applications, Microsoft Word & Excel, reading, writing and math skills
- Be able to lift 50lbs
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to assess a situation, use quick and reasonable judgment and resolve problems diplomatically
- Exceptional customer service and communications skills and a friendly demeanor
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis
