Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited add a Temporary Recreation Assistant to the team at Methodist Home Recreation Center! This position will provide supervision and instruction of our skate camp this summer. Camp activities will include skateboarding, roller skating, inline skating, and scootering. The incumbent may also participate in other summer camp activities as needed. Additionally, this position will participate in overall customer service operations and will regularly provide information to visitors regarding our service and programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skateboarding/skating instruction experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide customer service and handling of funds in a recreation center or park facility through telephone, emails, web site, social media and walk in patrons and customers for information, program registration, center daily use and rentals
- Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
- Enforce rules and regulations
- Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
- May referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or lineperson at games
- Assist with various recreational programs for all ages
- Handle inquiries and complaints from public
- Assist with special events and field trips
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience: No experience required.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: N/A
- Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid
- Computer Skills: General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
