What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal - Summer Pool Swim Instructor & Lifeguard for the Monroe Pool position at City of Monroe?
No certification required at the time of application! We will be offering a free lifeguarding course to employees May 30th, 31st and June 3rd.
New lifeguards will be assigned a work team that works Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday every week. Teams alternate working Fridays or Saturdays and Sundays each week. All lifeguards will teach swimming lessons in the mornings and guard in the afternoons. Most afternoon shifts will be 12:45pm-8:00pm with 15 minute breaks every hour.

Sunday, May 18th - 9am-4pm
Monday, June 9th - 8am-4pm
Tuesday, June 10th - 9am-4pm

- Participate in pre-season staff orientation/training program.
- Help teach swimming lessons to participants.
- Use accepted methods and safety measures in teaching.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Enforce all facility rules in a prompt, polite and consistent manner.
- Ensure swim lessons are a fun and safe learning experience for all participants.
- Instill discipline and respect from the beginning.
- Keep all lifesaving equipment and first aid supplies in readiness.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the facilities, including walkways, showers, restrooms and parking lot.
- Follow all department policies and procedures.
- Must be 15 years of age or older by June 1st
- Red Cross Lifeguard certification & First Aid & CPR & Water Park certification is required.
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Ability to communicate, be courteous and cooperate with other staff members.
Salary : $11 - $12
