**Job Title:** Public Works Director
The City of Monticello, Illinois is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Works Director to lead the Public Works Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the department's daily operations, overseeing personnel, and ensuring the timely completion of tasks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire Monticello Public Works Department (MPWD) and personnel.
- Oversee the safe use of all vehicles, equipment, tools, and accessories.
- Prepare and maintain the MPWD budget and develop reports as required.
- Work cooperatively with city personnel, elected officials, and citizenry to provide optimum care and maintenance of city buildings, property, rights-of-way, and infrastructure.
- Recognize the importance of being a walkable community and ensure necessary steps are taken to improve infrastructure, including sidewalks and bike paths.
- Provide support to organizations promoting the City of Monticello, including the Monticello Chamber of Commerce and Monticello Main Street organizations.
Requirements:
- A High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a public works related field.
- A valid Illinois driver's license with CDL-Class B and Air Brake endorsement, or ability to obtain within six months of hire date.
- Willingness to live within a twelve-mile radius of City Hall.
- Good customer service skills dealing with the public.
