The City of Monticello is currently accepting applications for summer and summer/fall seasonal employees for our Parks Department. Full-time and part-time positions are available May-October. This posting will remain open until all positions are filled.General Statement of Duties: The work involves a variety of duties ranging from unskilled manual labor to skilled mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of small 4-wheel tractors and mowing equipment. Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Park Superintendent. Supervision Exercised: None.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Operate a variety of power-operated tools, equipment, and vehicles engaged in the on-going maintenance and repair on City parks and other public properties.Perform a variety of manual and skilled tasks, including mowing and trimming of grass and bushes, picking up litter and emptying trash cans.Operate small tractors for the purpose of mowing and grading.Operate a gasoline engine driven string trimmer and push mowers.Repair and maintain playground equipment and related amenities.Grading and leveling lime-walking paths.Sports field set-ups.Repair and maintain as well as replace broken posts and signs.Miscellaneous painting and staining.Sweeping walks and parking areas.Wood chipping.Cleaning and maintaining restrooms as necessary.Watering trees and grass.Lifting and moving of picnic tables and related park equipment.Operating a City pickup truck.Maintain small tractors, string trimmers, push mowers, and related equipment. Also involves washing and cleaning, oil changes, greasing, replacement of broken parts and adjustments, including the sharpening of mower blades.Other tasks as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
A high school education or GED equivalent.A valid Class D Minnesota driver's license with safe driving record.
