Basic Purpose of the Job
Under general supervision and direction from the Sports Program Coordinator,
performs a variety of assigned duties and responsibilities involved in officiating youth baseball games.
Learns and adheres to safety standards.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work under the general direction and guidance of the Sports Program Coordinator.
Must be able to work under minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.

lifting, carrying, hand/eye coordination. Vision for reading and preparing written reports and documents;
frequent speech communication, hearing and listening to maintain communications with employees,
coaches and citizens.
Work Environment: Outside work, with exposure to outside elements including exposure to sun, wind,
rain, and dust. Requires driving and walking during inclement weather. Frequent exposure to heat and

Wage: $ 30.00 per game for field umpires and $45.00 per game for home plate umpires.

- Performs assigned duties to include officiating youth baseball games, reviewing rules with coaches and
players before games. - Checks all equipment and field areas for safety hazards.
- Remains unbiased while umpiring and will professionally manage crowds.
- The umpire will approach the position as a representative of the City, displaying respect for the facility,
participants, parents and co-workers. - Provides excellent customer service including resolving complaints in a professional and efficient
manner. - Keeps track of game time.
- Practices proper safety precautions related to all work performed.

- Ability to calculate basic math.
- Ability to interpret and follow instructions.
- Ability to stay calm and keep a professional demeanor even during tense situations.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak season.
- Ability to comply with safety standards.
- Some travel may be required.
- Must be 14 years of age or older for field umpire and 16 years of age or older for plate umpire.
- Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
- Knowledge of youth baseball rules and regulations.
- CPR and First Aid Training preferred.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with acceptable driving record for plate umpire preferred.
Wage: $ 30.00 per game for field umpires and $45.00 per game for home plate umpires.
