Our Recreation Division is excited to announce an opening for a motivated and enthusiastic Preschool Director for this traditional preschool program which emphasizes development of motor skills, social skills, speech, and language. The Preschool Director develops, plans, and administers a preschool program; provides lead worker supervision of other part-time staff and volunteers; supervises and manages the learning activities of children; provides on-site supervision and implementation of preschool and recreation programs; and performs a variety of tasks related to maintaining safe and healthy preschool and recreation program facilities, including setting up and cleaning up for preschool and recreation programs and performing light custodial duties. This position is hourly and not overtime exempt.

Submission of applications before April 21 is highly encouraged.- Develop, plan, organize, and lead developmentally appropriate activities to promote the cognitive, social and emotional, speech and language, and fine and gross motor skill development of children; develop, evaluate, and modify curriculum as needed.
- Develop and recommend operating procedures, health and safety procedures, and emergency preparedness procedures; prepare and update staff and program handbooks and guidelines; conduct emergency drills.
- Prepare supplies and materials for lesson plans, snacks, and other program activities; monitor the use of supplies, materials, and equipment; and guide children in the appropriate use of supplies, materials, and equipment; monitor inventory; make purchases and/or recommend purchases.
- Supervise and care for children; enforce rules and provide appropriate guidance and discipline to ensure safety; assist children with hygiene and toileting as necessary; observe and evaluate health needs of children and take appropriate action.
- Open and close facilities; set-up and clean-up for preschool and recreational programs; maintain neat and orderly facilities; perform light custodial duties as needed.
- Administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Provide information and respond to inquiries from program participants; prepare written materials such as monthly bulletins and snack schedules for participants; prepare annual parent handbooks and forms.
- Observe and document children's progress toward desired development goals; develop written progress reports; participate in parent/teacher conferences.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Provide direction and training to part-time staff and volunteers.
- Process annual program enrollments; maintain participant files; process monthly registration fees; maintain and manage waiting lists and fill vacancies.

Experience: No less than 3,600 hours early childhood teaching experience in an organizational setting (licensed preschool, school district, park and recreation agency, or other public agency) and no less than 1,000 hours supervisory experience.
Training: Equivalent to an associate's degree in education, child development, or closely related field with completion of no less than fifteen (15) early childhood education units at an accredited college or university. A bachelor's degree in education, child development, or closely related field is highly desirable.
License or Certificate:
- Possession of a valid first aid certificate and CPR, including pediatric first aid and CPR.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California driver's license.
