Position : Parking Enforcement Officer
Department : Parking
Employment Status : Full Time
Compensation : Grade 5; Salary Range starting at $19.59 / hour
DEFINITION / SUMMARY :
Works under the supervision of the Morgantown Parking Enforcement Superintendent and the Parking Authority Director and, at times, under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent?or another Enforcement Officer as specified by the Enforcement Superintendent and the Parking Authority Director and is reviewed for compliance with established procedures while working, and review after task completion. The Enforcement Officer will interact with the general public while enforcing the Parking Ordinances of the City of Morgantown. May supervise other Enforcement Officers and perform tasks required to maintain parking lots and garages. Daily cleaning of surface lots, garages, and sidewalks of debris. Clear parking lots, garages, and sidewalks of snow and ice during the winter months. Must be available to work all shifts, including day, afternoon, midnight, and weekends.

Issue parking tickets throughout the City of Morgantown for violations of city parking ordinancesBoots or tows vehicles with outstanding parking ticketsCommunicate with the Morgantown Police Department and Police DispatchClean lots and garagesMaintain garage gate equipment, pay stations, and multi-space metersCommunicate equipment problems in writing to the Enforcement SuperintendentSnow / Ice Removal : Treat city parking facilities using snow and ice removal equipment, including manual salt spreader, shovel, utility vehicle with a broom, or other attachment (may operate a truck with plow and spreader, along with other snow removal equipment if qualified).Performs duties assigned by the Enforcement Superintendent or Parking Authority Director orally or in writing in a timely fashionWORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Requires the ability to walk a minimum of four miles per shiftRequires the ability to lift, unaided, objects weighing as much as fifty-one (51) poundsEmployee spends an average of eight (8) to twelve (12) hours per shift working outdoors. Daily conditions encountered are noise, dirt, odors, dust, fumes, vibration, wind, rain, snow, etc.EQUIPMENT USED :
Smartphone with enforcement apps and printerSnow removal - including trucks with plow and salt spreaders, manual salt spreaders, shovels, utility vehicles with a broom or other attachmentsWears all PPE required and follows all safety policiesHazardous conditions encountered daily include, but are not limited to :
Constant hazards : Danger from passing traffic, mechanical hazards when using heavy equipment, and entering confined spacesOccasional hazards : Tripping or slipping due to terrain and weather conditions, traffic accidents when working to remove snow and icePossible hazards : Risks associated with working on narrow roads and steep grades and various weather conditionsCity of Morgantown is an EEOC
