Position Summary :
Under the supervision of the Parking Deputy Authority Director, the Enforcement Supervisor is responsible for the hands-on management in various assignments related to city parking ordinance enforcement.
The Enforcement Supervisor supervises, plans, and organizes the Parking Enforcement Officers' daily activities and operations, the ticket issuance program, and personnel's effectiveness in enforcing city parking regulations and state laws governing vehicle parking. Additionally, it provides a visible safety presence in patrolled areas to ensure that officers provide a safe environment for the general public.
Essential Duties :
- Provides professional management of assigned projects, programs, and functions at direction and discretion of the Parking Authority Director.
- Manages staff within the Enforcement Department, including completing annual performance reviews, assisting in hiring staff (including interviews), assigning tasks, enforcing department policies, and more. Recommends and takes corrective action where necessary.
- Schedule court dates.
- Must understand and enforce safety initiatives and regulations.
- Trains, supervises, coaches, and mentors enforcement staff in their operational roles.
- Works with other City departments and officials to address parking concerns.
- Reviews and analyzes programs, operations, and associated costs for forecasting and department progress towards stated objectives.
- Response to daily work requests, assign and review work through onsite observation.
- Approve employees' leave request and ensure they are punctual and accountable for their attendance. Review all leave requests to ensure minimum manning.
- Order supplies to ensure the timely and efficient completion of enforcement needs.
- Promotes an image of professional and courteous service as a representative of the Parking Authority. Skilled at communicating effectively, both orally and written, with all organization and community levels. Must use email and other technology and programs implemented by the Parking Authority Director and Parking Authority Board.
- Response to complaints and questions related to parking; provides information, researches problems, and initiates problem resolution.
- Performs other related work and duties as needed.
- Wears all PPE required and follows all safety policies.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements :
Employees' daily activities include walking, standing, and performing duties requiring arms, hands, or fingers to handle or manipulate objects, operating equipment, tools, and instruments requiring fine eye-hand coordination. Other daily activities require repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or crawling. In addition, the employee performs duties that require climbing or working from ladders and scaffolding. Daily operations require lifting objects weighing as much as fifty-one (51) pounds.
The employee spends an average of eight (8) to nine (9) hours per day working outdoors. Daily conditions encountered include noise, dirt, odors, dust, fumes, vibrations, wind, rain, snow, and other elements. Conditions vary with the seasons.
Hazardous conditions encountered daily include elevated workplaces, mechanical, electrical, and traffic hazards and hazards associated with using small and medium-sized handheld and powered tools and equipment.
