DESCRIPTION
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Executes specialist tasks in one or more HR disciplines while handling broader HR responsibilities.
Collaborates with HR leadership to manage recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt roles, including creating job postings, sourcing candidates, developing interview materials with departments, and maintaining recruitment lists and registers.
Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, FLSA, ADA).
Advises and coaches employees and managers on FMLA/ADA rights and processes, coordinating certification approvals or denials as required.
Conducts employee relations investigations and addresses complaints in alignment with state and federal laws and City policies, providing leadership with recommended resolutions as necessary.
Develops and maintains Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEOP) documentation and other HR compliance reports to meet organizational and legal standards.
Maintains accurate HR records, reports, and logs to ensure compliance with City policies and legal regulations.
Stays informed on legislative, procedural, and policy changes relevant to HR operations.
Performs additional HR-related tasks and responsibilities as needed to support departmental operations.
Primarily sedentary work with occasional walking or standing.
Requires the use of up to 10 pounds of force regularly and involves sustained keyboard operations.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field required.
A minimum of four years of HR Generalist experience is required.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Current HR certification is required (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, PSHRA-CP, PSHRA-SCP).
