What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Program Instructor position at City of New Berlin?
Under the supervision of the Recreation Specialist, the Youth Program Instructor is responsible for the instruction and supervision of participants in the program. The instructor will engage youth participants through demonstrations and teach a variety of activities including, outdoor adventure, STEM, arts and crafts, slime making, cooking, and much more!

These programs will run Weekdays anytime between 12:00pm-8:00 June-August.
Year-round sporadic hours are available with the Recreation Department.

- Responsible for class set-up and clean-up of program areas.
- Responsible for instructing youth program
- Creates a class itinerary to engage and develop participant skill.
- Ensures a safe playing environment for participants.
- Observes, enforces and explains all facility rules and regulations.
- Answer parents questions/concerns before and after the program.
- Report problems or needs to management.
- Report to work at least 15 minutes prior to class and stay until all participants have left.
- Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures.
- Communicate equipment and/or supply needs with management.
- All other duties as may be assigned.
- Possess an interest in working with/instructing children ages 5-12.
- Must have knowledge and ability to organize and teach the fundamentals of a variety of activities
- Ability to keep simple records and reports, and work from oral and written directions.
- Possess a broad knowledge of activities.
- Previous instructing, coaching and/or teaching preferred.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with participants, parents, staff, city officials and the public.
- Ability to present a positive image of the department and the City.
