What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foreman /Wastewater Land Application position at City of New Iberia Municipal Civil Service?
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Position leads and participates in treatment, removal, transport, and disposal, through agricultural land application of waste water plant residuals, under strict environmental regulation. Supervises and participates in operating belt press, sludge de-watering equipment at a municipal waste water treatment plant, loading and transport of properly dehydrated sludge; treatment using lime stabilization process, loading dump trucks, applying to land using spreading, spraying, chopping equipment according to established procedures. Performs maintenance and repair on equipment at plant and field. Takes samples, measures acidity, adds lime as necessary. Makes minor repairs and adjustments on belt press, pumps, controls, wash down and sanitation equipment. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-High School Diploma or equivalent.
-A valid Louisiana Commercial Driver’s license (Class A or B) with air brake and tanker endorsement are required.
-Must also meet the general requirements of the City’s auto insurance company.
-Must pass the civil service exam, the post-offer drug screen, physical, and functional pre-placement testing.
–Must be a registered voter / copy of the voter of registration card must accompany the application.
Desirable qualifications: Substantial experience necessary to become proficient operating and maintaining variety of equipment used in sludge treatment and land application. State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Wastewater Treatment Certification Class III is desired, as is a working knowledge of New Iberia’s Land Application Permit requirements.
Essential Functions: Mobility, lifting up to 52 pounds, climbing, manual dexterity and strength sufficient to operate and maintain plant and automotive equipment are essential, as are vision of at least 20/40 in each eye and depth perception of 80 seconds of arc or better, hearing, speech, and agility within normal limits.
