What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Caretaker- (Part-time) position at City of New London?
Maintain all City parks and open space to ensure safe recreation. Maintain all park equipment.
Starting wage is $13.25 per hour.
This part-time position will typically work 25 - 37 1/2 hours per week from March to November (depending on the season). December through February hours are on a "on-call" basis for snow removal and other tasks.
Position will remain open for applications until it is filled.

- Mow lawn with riding mower
- Perform snow removal
- Maintain safety in the parks and around all City owned properties
- Maintain all park buildings and properties, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing
- Maintain beautification of parks and other City owned properties by performing refuse pickup, lawn care and landscaping
- Maintain and prepare/groom ball fields for various league activities
- Inspect and maintain all playground equipment, shelters, park shop, ice rink, trails, etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all park vehicles and small equipment
- Initiate safe work practices
- Attend required meetings and training sessions
- Communicate with local groups and school district regarding activities
- Assist with special event setup
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid WI driver's license with no restrictions
- One to three years' experience in related field
- Knowledge of hand tools, riding lawn mower, gas powered trimmers, and blower
- Ability to work weekends/holidays if necessary
