ASSOCIATE PARK SERVICE WORKER - 81106
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York. There may be certain age requirements to obtain this license. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License during their employment.

Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, operate a wide range of vehicles and field power equipment from trucks and trailers, tractors, loaders, mowers, weed whackers, snow blowers, chain saws and more.
- Assist with tracking projects, work orders, and document work.
- Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles and ensure they operate in proper working condition.
- Take part in all assigned projects as directed, including inventory, construction, demolition, planting, pruning and concrete mixing and spreading.
- Effectively maintain landscape and grounds. Clean and repair park areas, playgrounds and facilities and ensure agency rules and regulations are followed.
- Supervise assigned personnel and closely inspect work assignments to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and according to agency specifications.
- Respond as part of a team as needed to citywide efforts and emergencies; snowstorms; hurricanes, and tornado damage clean-up.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of an inventory of crew tools, equipment and vehicles and other types of motorized equipment.
- Maintain accurate records, track assignments and order necessary supplies.
- This vacancy is only open to 1) current permanent Parks employees serving in the Associate Park Service Worker civil service title or 2) on leave from the title or 3) candidates who are reachable on the promotional Associate Park Service Worker civil service list, Exam No. 1517 or Associate Park Service Worker civil service list, Exam No. 1138.

- A four-year high school diploma or its education equivalent and 6 months of full-time satisfactory paid experience in gardening, grounds or tree maintenance, or in the building, construction or maintenance trades; or
- One year of full-time experience in gardening, grounds or tree maintenance, or in the building, construction or maintenance trades; or
Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York. There may be certain age requirements to obtain this license. Employees must maintain the Class B Commercial Driver License during their employment.
Preferred Skills
- Possession of Class A Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York. 2. Towing Endorsement. 3. Passenger Endorsement. 4. Experience in working with diverse teams in an urban setting. 5. Excellent communication and organization skills. 6. Willing to work in inclement weather and able to perform intense and physically demanding work. 7. Proficient in computer software including Microsoft Word and Excel. 8. Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours.
