The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and approximately 10,600 employees who manage and maintain 326 developments that house over 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to over 200,000 additional families. NYCHA is standing up a new division, Healthy Homes, which will report directly to the General Manager (or COO) and will be in charge of performing the operational side of environmental hazard compliance. The first division to launch is Lead Hazard Control (LHC).

Responsibilities

Under direct supervision of the Unit Manager and Supervisor(s), with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the selected candidate responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in performing clerical & office tasks such as filing, keeping records, and typing; may answer telephones, make referrals, take messages and act as a messenger.
  • May assist in improving community services by performing liaison functions among the staff and residents.
  • Work to improve tenant-management relations and encourage participation from the community.
  • Receive training and assist in programs of community enhancement, improvement, and/or rehabilitation.
  • Receive training and assist in work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility in municipal real estate management.
  • May assist in creating/dispatching/closing of high-volume work orders in Maximo.
  • May assist in daily/weekly scheduling of high-volume Maximo work orders.
  • Troubleshoot Maximo work order inquiries.
  • Prepare general program reports and provide office support to unit Manager and Supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
  • Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Public Housing. 2. Proficient in Oracle, Maximo, Movaris, and Microsoft Office suite. 3. Comfortable working under high volume of work and meeting deadlines
