Salary: $15.00 - $17.57 per hour
Expected hours: 10 hour per week
Shift: 8:00am-1:00pm, 15-20 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Assistant provides assistance to the nursing staff so the best quality care is given to the residents. This position is a TEMPORARY pathway to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. The expectation is that a Nursing Assistant course is taken, the tests passed and a C.N.A position is accepted at St. John’s. The course will be arranged by the Staff Development or Human Resources.
There is NO DIRECT CARE performed. No transferring, lifting or assisting with eating, bathing, oral care, repositioning or toileting of the residents will be done by the Community Assistant.
Community Assistant Duties:
1. Pass water to resident’s rooms.
2. Pass towels and linens to the residents’ rooms.
3. Assist in the dining room during meals. This may include passing meal trays to the residents’ rooms.
4. Set up and offer snacks to the residents.
5. Transport residents where they need to go throughout the building.
6. General straightening of the rooms, tub room, kitchenette, and neighborhood.
7. Empty linen and incontinence brutes.
8. Answers call lights.
9. Check resident rooms for tissues, lotion, body wash, pads, gloves, etc and stock as needed.
10. Assist with cleaning, disinfecting and returning of utensils and commodes.
11. Cleaning of W/C’s, Rock-n-Go’s, etc that cannot be washed in machine, as time allows.
12. Observe and report any changes in condition or other important information to the nurse.
- At Woodlands Nursing Home, you may be assigned to laundry duties.
14. Must complete all required education and training.
15. Must adhere to facility policies of dress, behavior and safety.
