Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contract Management Director to join our team in the Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development and progress of contracts related to wastewater treatment facilities, including planning, coordinating, and negotiating with contractors. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the development and progress of contracts related to wastewater treatment facilities
- Negotiate with contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects
- Supervise engineers and assistant engineers to prepare specifications and manage contract administration
- Manage staff workload to ensure deadlines are met and projects are completed efficiently
- Directly respond to work requests from Bureau Facilities by issuing contract work orders to contractors
- Train engineers and assistant engineers on contract administration and specification preparation
- Comply with newly revised codes and regulations applicable to contract work
- Monitor critical equipment usage and performance to prevent problems before failure
- Promote a workplace free from safety hazards and ensure employees adhere to EH&S laws and policies
Requirements
- A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer
- Six years of full-time satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering or a related field, at least two years of which must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with contract administration principles and practices
