The Department of Human Resources attracts, develops, and retains diverse and exceptional employees committed to supporting our vibrant and resilient coastal community. We are currently seeking a Compensation Administrator that will assist the Compensation Team in the administration of the City’s compensation programs. This administrator role will focus on supporting compensation data management, assisting with job evaluations, and helping ensure the City's pay practices are equitable, competitive, and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This position will be responsible for leading City-wide compensation projects and initiatives.
Essential Functions
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
- Develop and manage the City’s compensation and classification programs, including the creation of salary structures and job classification systems.
- Conduct regular market analysis and salary surveys to ensure the City’s compensation practices are competitive within the public sector and private industry.
- Collaborate with HR leadership and other departments to ensure compensation practices align with overall organizational strategy and goals.
- Provide expert consultation on pay equity, salary adjustments, and classification reviews.
- Analyze internal compensation data and ensure alignment with industry standards, while promoting fair and equitable pay practices.
- Manage job evaluations and ensure that all positions are accurately classified according to responsibilities and qualifications.
- Prepare and present reports on compensation trends, pay equity, and classification findings to City leadership and stakeholders.
- Administer the City’s compensation programs, including merit and performance-based salary increases.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget related to compensation and staffing resources.
- Stay informed about state and federal compensation regulations, and make recommendations for adjustments to ensure compliance.
Education/Experience
- At least seven years of experience in compensation management, human resources administration, or a related field, with an understanding of compensation data analysis and program administration.
- Proficiency in compensation software, data management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong organizational and communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulations related to compensation.
