Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Water Safety Specialist to join our team at the City of North Bend, OR. This part-time position is responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for pool patrons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lifeguard Supervision: Provide instruction and direction to lifeguards, ensuring they meet the highest standards of water safety and rescue techniques.
- Poll Operations: Maintain proper pool chemistry, monitor operating equipment, and ensure a clean and safe aquatic facility.
- Program Development: Create and implement training programs for staff and patrons, promoting water safety awareness and education.
- Front Desk Operations: Greet patrons, answer questions, and process transactions using the cash register.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely records on pool operations, including maintenance schedules and chemical levels.
Requirements:
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification or equivalent
- American Red Cross Water Safety and Lifeguard Instructor Certifications or equivalent within 6 months of employment
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a lifeguard and 6 months experience in a leadership role
Work Environment:
The work environment is primarily indoors with some outdoor exposure. Pool environment with wet and slippery conditions. May be exposed to chlorine, acids, and other chemicals at aquatics facilities, as well as blood and body fluids while rendering first aid and CPR.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to swim distances and dive to pool depths
- Ability to lift 150 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, bend, climb, push and pull materials and equipment
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time, temporary position. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
